How to Make a Sea Turtle!

Time to make: IDK like an hour and a half?
Approximate size: w = 9.5", l = 10", h = 3.5"
Suggested yarn: fluffy chenille
Suggested hook size: 5 mm (US H-8 or UK 6)

Materials
5 mm crochet hook
Two colors of yarn
crochet eyes
stuffing (or spare cloth)
hot glue (optional for gluing eyes if they're not v. high quality)

Instructions

Head

1. M.C. 6
2. inc. x 6
3. [S.C., inc.] x 6
4. [2 S.C., inc.] x 6
5. 5 rounds of S.C.
6. [2 S.C., dec(inv)] x 6
7. Add eyes on either side of head, between rounds 4 and 5, and stuffing
8. [S.C., dec(inv)] x 6
9. dec(inv) x 6 and sl. st. shut

Shell

1. M.C. 8
2. inc. x 8

INTO "OUTWARD" FACING STITCH ONLY
8. ch. 2, T.C. into same stitch. In next stitch, T.C. then D.C. into the same stitch. Sl. st. into next stitch. Starting with the same stitch you just sl. st.ed into, repeat this pattern all the way around the outside of the shell.
INTO "INWARD" FACING STITCH OF THE "MAIN" SHELL PART ONLY

10. dec(inv) around entire shell until the hole is small. Add stuffing and sl. st. shut

Front Fins

6. Inserting hook into both sets of loops, S.C. the half-circle together

Putting it Together

1. Sew the head onto the shell above the ruffled part (make sure the eyes are on the right side up and out)
2. Evenly position the front fins on either side of the head, about a ruffle apart from it. The "corner" side should be facing forward and sort of towards the head. Sew on.
3. Evenly position the back fins about 2 ruffles away from each other at the back. The "corner" side should be facing forward and outward. Sew on.
4. (optional) Add blush below the eyes using a needle and some pink yarn.
